Chọn buổi trời nắng ráo lấy bàn chải hay miếng vải khô tẩm dầu đốt bôi đều khắp đồ mộc. Sau đó đem ra phơi nắng khoảng 2 tiếng, ta lại bôi thêm một lần nữa rồi cũng đem phơi nắng. Lần nay ta cũng phơi trong vài tiếng và dùng nước xà phòng lau sạch trước khi sử dụng.

Làm như vậy trước khi sử dụng đồ gỗ sẽ giúp ngăn ngừa sự xâm nhập của mối mọt do chúng rất sợ mùi này. Ta cũng có thể dùng cách này khi phát hiện ra mối đang tấn công đồ đạc nhà bạn.
