Muỗi – Một loài côn trùng, Vật trung gian gây hại

Muỗi là một nhóm sinh vật thuộc lớp côn trùng, bộ Hai cánh.

Chúng có một đôi cánh vảy, một đôi cánh cứng. Thân mỏng, các chân dài.

Muỗi đực hút nhựa cây và hoa quả để sống, trong khi muỗi cái hút thêm máu người và động vật. Kích thước của chúng tùy thuộc theo loài, đa phần lớn hơn vài mm. Trọng lượng rơi vào khoảng 2 đến 2,5 mg. Vận tốc bay có thể đạt 1,5 đến 2,5 km/h.

Muỗi là sinh vật xuất hiện khá sớm, vào khoảng 170 triệu năm trước.

Đặc điểm sinh thái loài muỗi

Muỗi sinh trưởng chủ yếu trong các đầm lầy, ao hồ hoặc các vũng nước đọng, các vùng ẩm ướt. Trứng đẻ dưới nước, sau đó nở thành ấu trùng gọi là bọ gậy hay loăng quăng. Ấu trùng sống trong nước một thời gian, sau đó phát triển tiếp thành nhộng, rồi biến thái thành muỗi trưởng thành, bay lên khỏi mặt nước.

Nhiệt độ phù hợp cho quá trình sinh trưởng của muỗi là từ 20 đến 25 độ C. Do đó, chúng xuất hiện ở các nước nhiệt đới, trong đó có Việt Nam. Vòng đời của muỗi thay đổi từ vài ngày cho tới một tháng.

Muỗi cái có vòi dạng đặc biệt để hút máu người và động vật. Muỗi cần hút thêm máu để có nguồn protein sản sinh ra trứng. Muỗi đực thì không cần điều này. Tất nhiên cũng có loài muỗi không hút máu.

Các biện pháp Diệt muỗi

Các biện pháp diệt bọ gậy thông thường không làm giảm ngay số lượng muỗi đốt, có khi phải mất vài ngày hoặc thậm chí vài tuần. Diệt bọ gậy bao gồm các biện pháp khác nhau như thau vét bọ gậy, làm thay đổi nơi sinh sản của muỗi, làm cho bọ gậy không sinh sôi; Thả cá và các loài sinh vật ăn bọ gậy khác vào nơi có bọ gậy; Dùng hóa chất diệt bọ gậy,…

Việc làm thoát nước ở các khu vực đầm lầy, nước tù đọng, đất đai khai khẩn và các biện pháp lâu dài khác được thực hiện từ đầu thế kỷ 20 ở nhiều nơi đã góp phần rất tích cực trong các biện pháp phòng chống và giảm thiểu những bệnh do muỗi truyền.

Diệt bọ gậy muỗi truyền bệnh cần phải được thực hiện chung quanh nơi sinh sống của con người trong phạm vi lớn hơn phạm vi dự định diệt muỗi. Đối với nhiều loài muỗi, phạm vi này khoảng 1,5–2 km.

Cải tạo môi trường cũng là một phương pháp để khống chế sự sinh sản của muỗi. Mục đích chính là thu hẹp môi trường sinh trưởng của muỗi.

Ngoài ra phương pháp được nhiều người tin dùng nhất đó là sử dụng các chế phẩm sinh học có tác dụng diệt muỗi. Cụ thể hơn là sử dụng một số sản phẩm thuốc diệt muỗi có nguồn gốc rõ ràng, được phân phối chính hãng.
